Bott contacted R-ECO asking if solar panels on their factory control room roof would help them reduce on-site running costs. R-ECO designed a 10kWp solar PV array for the roof, connected to a three-phase industrial supply. The system is remotely monitored through a sunny portal that alerts us if there is a fault. The system was designed specifically around the plant's existing energy managment system. Bott needed to know the exact energy demand from the control room, which is exactly what they have now got.
On the 13th May 2011, the Renewable Energy Co-operative installed and commissioned its first community project at Sterts Theatre, near Liskeard, North Cornwall. Cornwall Council provided funding via the Strategic Arts Clients' Capital fund, and R-ECO provided match funding for the project. The Sterts theatre is now the proud owner of a 6kWp Solar PV system, resulting in a reduction to their energy bill of an estimated 70%, aiming to make Sterts theatre carbon neutral by 2016.
This customer wanted the biggest system they could fit onto their limited roof space. Precise measurements taken at the survey stage combined with 3-D CAD modelling back at the office meant we could fit 2.6kWp into the given roof area when using the high efficiency 240Wp Phono Solar modules.
